Professional
For those holding a bachelor's, master's, or doctoral degree in psychology or a related behavioral science, committed to the goals of the Association. Full voting rights.
Student
For undergraduate or graduate students majoring or minoring in psychology or a closely related discipline. Discounted dues, full community.
Affiliate
For community members who do not fit the other categories but are committed to the goals of ABPsi and MAABPsi. Non-voting.
Institutional
For institutions, agencies, colleges, and universities aligned with ABPsi's goals. Requires sponsorship and agreement from the national office.
Joining takes two steps.
MAABPsi is a chapter of the national Association of Black Psychologists, so full chapter membership pairs an active national membership with local chapter dues. Here is the path:

Choose your category and join at abpsi.org. National membership includes the Journal of Black Psychology, the Black Wellness Directory, and reduced convention registration.
Apply and pay online
The chapter application takes about five minutes. Local dues are $55 a year for professionals and $30 for students, payable by PayPal, Cash App ($MAABPsi), or Zelle. Prefer email? Write to metroatlantaabpsi@gmail.com and we will send everything.

What membership gives you
Colleagues who understand the work without translation, mentorship that runs in both directions, and referral relationships that actually refer. It is also a place to present your work and step into leadership, inside an institution that has held Black psychology in Atlanta since 1976.

Dues are not a fee for service. They are a stake in an institution. Both sides of that exchange are worth naming plainly.

A room that already understands. Monthly meetings with colleagues who share the work, the culture, and the load. No translating yourself.
Mentorship in both directions. The Baobab Tree program pairs you with a Jegna, or makes you one. Either way, you grow.
Referrals and reach. A trusted network that sends clients, collaborators, and opportunities to people it knows.
Leadership lanes. Seven committees where you can run something real, build your name, and practice the leadership your career needs next.
You give
A pipeline where there is a gap. Only 4% of U.S. psychologists are Black. Your dues fund the campus visits, mentorship, and student support that change that number one career at a time.
Care your community can find. Chapter programming and the resources we maintain help Black Atlanta reach clinicians who see them.
The next fifty years. This chapter was handed to us by people who built it in 1976 with less than we have now. Membership is how it gets handed forward.
